The parish register of Mariä Himmelfahrt (Assumption of Mary) Catholic Church in Mistendorf records that before her marriage to Johannes Dietrich, Anna Bayer from Hochstall had an illegitimate son with Johannes Michael Saffenreutter from Strullendorf: Johannes, baptized 10 February 1749. Anna Bayer later married Johannes Dietrich. [See Dietrich Family.]
Hans Dietrich, a stonemason, his wife Anna, children (Kunigunda, age 9; Johann, age 7), and [stepson] Johannes [Safenreiter] (age 18) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 September 1766 aboard a pink named Лев (Lev) under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.
Hans Dietrich, a farmer, his wife Anna, children (Kunigunda, age 11; Johannes, age 9), and stepson Johannes [Safenreiter] (age 20) are recorded on the 1767 census of Preuss in Household No. 118. They had arrived in Preuss on 16 August 1767.
Johannes Safenreiter and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss in Household No. Ps75.
The death of Johannes Safenreiter in 1820 is recorded on the 1834 census of Preuss in Household No. 86.
Peter Safenreiter, son of Mattias Safenreiter, is recorded on the 1850 census of Preuss in Household No. 25 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Rothammel.
Peter Safenreiter and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Preuss in Household No. 78.
A branch of the Safenreiter family that settled in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, goes by the surname of Smith.
