The 1836-1845 Communion Register of Dobrinka records that Jacob Sauer was born 24 July 1746 in the German village of Lönnbron [Leonbronn?] in Württemberg.

Jakob Sauer, a farmer, and his wife Sibilla settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 15 April 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 21.

Jakob Sauer and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Dobrinka in Household No. Db56.

Jakob Sauer is recorded on the 1834 census of Dobrinka in Household No. 77.

The death of Jakob Sauer in 1835 is recorded on the 1850 census of Dobrinka in Household No. 107. His death on 11 December 1835 is recorded on the 1836-1845 Communion Register of Dobrinka in Household No. 74.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Sauer came from the German village of Lebront in the Wittenberg [Württemberg?] region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Sauer family among the Volga German colonies.
