Sauerbrei (Schilling)*
Jakob Sauerbrei [recorded as Sauerberg], a carpenter, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Susanna, age 17; Christina, age 14; Johann, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Katharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Peter Röder.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Schilling. Jakob's widow evidently remarried to Andreas Meisinger who is recorded on the 1775 census of Schilling (Household No. 67) as the stepfather of Dorothea Sauerbrei, the wife of Johann Adam Schmidt. They are later recorded on the 1798 census of Schilling in Household No. Sg070.
Jakob's other daughter Christina Sauerbrei is recorded on the 1798 census of Beideck in Household No. Bd36.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jakob Sauerbrei came from the German region of Württemberg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Sauerbrei family among the Volga German colonies.
