Schäfer (Ernestinendorf)
Johann [Just] Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Janson.
Johann Jost Schäffer [sic] and his wife Catharina are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Ernestinendorf on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 24.
In 1798, Johann Peter Schäfer moved from Fischer to Ernestinendorf.
The 1767 census records that Johann Just Schäfer came from the German village of Eckenstaghausen [?] in the Solms region.
