Georg Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Anna Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 22.

In 1790, widow Anna Maria Schäfer and her family moved from Kukkus to Schilling.

The widow of Georg Schäfer from Kukkus and their son [Johann] Georg (age 12) are recorded on the 1798 census of Schilling in Household No. Sg089.

Johann Georg Schäfer from Schilling is recorded on the 1811 census of Kukkus in Household No. 54 along with a note that he had arrived in Kukkus from Schilling in 1810.

The 1767 census records that Georg Schäfer came from the German village of Löhnfeld in the Kurpfalz.
