Georg Schedel was born in approximately 1790. He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians. He was captured by the Russians and was settled in the Volga German colony of Bettinger.

He is recorded on the 1834 Bettinger Census in Household No. 128 along with a note that he had left the colony. He had moved to the colony of Urbach in 1817 and is recorded on the 1834 census there in Household No. 48. He is recorded still living in Urbach on the 1857 census in Household No. 96.
