The Johann Albert Schemberg family arrived in the colony of Dobrinka on 29 June 1764. Johann Albert Schemberg, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Ludwig Wendel, age 15; Johann Nikel [sic], age 13; Elisabeth, age 9; Johann Adam, age 3) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dobrinka in Household No. 6.

The 1767 census records that Johann Albert Schemberg came from the German village of Lenden in the Kurland region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German families.
