Schenkel
Johannes Schenkel, a farmer, his wife Katharina Region, and daughters (Regina Ottilia, age 3; Margaretha, age ½) immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Flensburg on 22 May 1762. They left the Danish colonies on 24 April 1765 and joined the migration to Russia.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 21 July 1766. Johannes is recorded on the 1767 census of Dönhof in Household No. 32 along with a new wife Agatha Sophia, and another daughter [?] Maria Agnessia (age 8).
In 1790, Johann Christoph Schenkel moved from Dönhof to Kutter.
Both the Eichhorns and the 1767 census record that Johannes Schenkel came from the German region of Württemberg.
