Hartwig Schintwelt, a Prussian cavalry soldier (Husar), and his wife Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 29 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 28.

The 1767 census records that Hartwig Schintwelt came from the German town of Berlin in the Brandenburg region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
