Schitzel*
Georg Schitzel, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the Danish galliot Nord Stern under the command of Skipper Detlev Belling.
Georg Schitzel and his [new] wife Barbara are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Lauwe on 5 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 45 along with his [new] wife Philippina and their 8-day-old daughter Magdalena.
Georg is recorded on the 1798 census of Lauwe (under the surname of Schütz) in Household No. Lw32. Daughter Magdalena is recorded there in Household No. Lw14
The 1767 census records that Georg Schitzel came from the German village of Breternitz in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
