Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Georg Schmall, a farmer, his wife Maria Sophia Vogelsen, and their daughter Maria Katharina immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) in 1762.

They joined the migration to Russia in 1765 and settled in the Volga German colony of Grimm. They recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 81.

Research by the Eichhorns reports that Johann Georg Schmall came from either the Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt or from the Kurpfalz region.
