Schmall (Messer)
Jakob Schmall, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 15 November 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census along with his new wife, Katharina. There is also a note on the 1767 census that he has taken over the debts of colonist Gottlieb Standauer who died in Saratov.

Johann Peter Schmall, son of Jakob Schmall, from Messer and his son (Friedrich, age 4) are recorded on the 1811 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 35 along with a note that he arrived in Stahl am Tarlyk from Messer in 1806.

In 1798, Franz Jakob Schmall moved from Messer to Warenburg.
