Wilhelm Schmidt, a single carpenter (Tischler), arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 27 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Слон (Slon - Elephant in Russian) under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
Johann Wilhelm Schmidt, a single carpenter (Tischler), is recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 33.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Wilhelm Schmidt came from the German region of Rüdesheim. The 1767 census records that Johann Wilhelm Schmidt came from the German village of Imkelburg in the Rüdesheim area.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.
