Johann[es] Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Joh. Schmiedt [sic] and Anna Maria are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits appended to the 1767 census in Household No. 97 along with a note that they settled in the Volga German colony of Luzern in 1768.

Johann Adam Schmidt from Luzern and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Köhler in Household No. Kl38.

Johann Adam Schmidt and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Köhler in Household No. 58.

Peter Schmidt, son of Johann Adam Schmidt, from Köhler and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Josefstal in Household No. 27.

Johann Schmidt from Luzern is recorded on the 1798 census of Köhler in Household No. Kl92.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Schmidt came from the German region of Bayern. The 1767 census records that Johannes Schmidt came from the German village of Waldthurn [?] in the Bayern region.
