Schneider (Orlovskaya)*
[Johann] Martin Schneider, a farmer, his wife Anna, and [step]son Elias [Riel] (age 10), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.
Martin Schneider, his wife Catharina, and [step]son Elias [Riel] (age 10¼) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Catharina died in route.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya on 3 August 1767. Martin remarried to widow Katharina Schwartzkopf. They are recorded on the 1767 census of Orlovskaya in Household No. 10 along with Katharina's daughter Susanna (age 11).
The 1767 census records that Johann Martin Schneider came from the German village of Stemag [?] in the Sachsen (Saxony) region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schneider family among the Volga German colonies.
