Moritz Schreuvogel was born in approximately 1784 in Ulm.
He served with the Light Infantry (Jäger) Regiment of Napoleon's army. He fought against and was captured by the Russians. In 1814, he was settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog.
Milovidov records that as of 1814, his father, mother, and brother were still living in Ulm.
He is recorded on the 1834 census of Herzog in Household No. 86 along with a note that he moved to the colony of Wittmann in 1825. He is recorded on the 1834 census of Wittmann in Household No. 1.
Milovidov records that Moritz Schreuvogel was born in the German village of Ulm in the region of Württemberg where he had worked as a carpenter before becoming a soldier.
Spelling variations of this surname include Schreivogel and Schreibvogel.
