Balzer Schubach, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Balzer, age 20; Johann, age 19; Anna, age 16¼; Maria age 14½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 May 1766 aboard a galliot named Adler (Eagle) under the command of the Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Balzer Schubach came from the German town of Lüneburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schubach family among the Volga German colonies.
