Schwartzkopf (Orlovskaya)*

The following are recorded on a list of subjects from Sollnitz who escaped to Russia:

Christoph [sic] Schwarzkopff [sic] (age 32, born in Sollnitz), his wife [first name not recorded] née Keßlerin from Schierau (age 26), and 4 children [Johann Sophia, age 11 (who stayed in Sollnitz); Susanna, age 9; Johann Carl, age 5; Dorothea, age 1].

Christian Schwarzkopf, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and daughter Katharina [Susanna] (age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Christoph [sic] Schwartzkopff [sic], his wife Catharina, and daughter Catharina (age 9) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Christian Schwarzkopf died and his widow remarried to Johann Martin Schneider who had been on the same ship arriving in Oranienbaum. The combined Schneider / Schwarzkopf family is recorded on the 1767 census of Orlovskaya in Household No. 10.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian Schwarzkopf came from the German region of Dessau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schwarzkopf family among the Volga German colonies.
