Nikolaus Spilner, a weaver (Leineweber), his wife Anna, and children (Friedrich, age 9; Sophia, age 6; Maria, age 4; Andreas, age ¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the Russian galliot named Kronverk under the command of Lieutenant Dmitry Ilyin.
Nicolaus Spilner, his wife Anna, and sons (Friederich, age 9; Andreas, age ¼) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Andreas died en route.
It is not known in which colony the Spilner family settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Nikolaus Spilner came from the German region of Schwarzburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Spilner family among the Volga German colonies.
