Johann Spring, a farmer, and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Galka on 15 December 1764. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2 along with their newborn son, Karl Gustav.

In 1790, Karl Spring moved from Galka to Dobrinka.

In 1834, Philipp Spreng, son of Karl Spreng, and his family moved from Dobrinka to Dönhof and are recorded on the 1834 census of Dönhof in Household No. 269.

In 1834, Christian Spreng, son of Karl Spreng, and his family moved from Dobrinka to Kratzke and are recorded on the 1834 census of Kratzke in Household No. 76.

The 1767 census records that Johann Spring came from the German village of Bork.
