Nikolaus Springer, a single farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 49.

The 1798 census of Rohleder records the widow of Nikolaus Springer and their children in Household No. Rl25.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Springer came from the German village of Sierck in the region of Lothringen.
