Johannes Stürtz, son of Johannes & Catharina Stürtz, was born 19 January 1716 and baptized 20 January 1716.

Johannes Stürtz married on 27 April 1747 to Anna Catharina Mertz, daughter of Simon Mertz.

Johannes Stürtz & Anna Catharina Mertz had six children, each born in Wohnfeld: (1) Johann Simon, born 27 March 1748, baptized 28 March 1748; (2) Anna Catharina, born 15 October 1751, baptized 16 October 1751; (3) Anna Elisabetha, born 20 December 1754, baptized 21 December 1754; (4) Anna Kunigunda, born & baptized 29 September 1757, died 30 January 1760; (5) Andreas, born 4 April 1760, baptized 5 April 1760, died 6 April 1760; and (6) Elisabetha, born 9 October 1763, baptized 10 October 1763.

Johann[es] Stürtz, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Simon, age 19; Anna Katharina, age 16; Anna Elisabeth, age 12; Elisabeth Katharina, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

Johannes Stürtz, his wife Anna Catrina, and children (Johann Simon, age 19; Anna Catrina, age 16; Anna Elisabeth, age 12; Elisabeth Catarina, age 3) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that mother Anna Catrina died in route.

Johannes Stürtz, a farmer, his [new] wife Katharina, children (Simon, age 21; Anna Elisabeth, age 13; Elisabeth, age 4), and Rosina [surname not recorded] (age 10, who must be a step-daughter) are recorded on the 1767 census of Stephan in Household No. 7. They had arrived in Stephan on 24 August 1767.

Simon Stürtz and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Stephan in Household No. 11.

Johann Georg Stürtz, son of the deceased Konrad Stürtz, relocated to the colony of Dobrinka before 1834.

Johannes Stürtz from Stephan and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Gnadentau.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Stürtz came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Johannes Stürtz came from the German village of Wohnfeld.
