Carl Ferdinand Stein, a miller (Müller), and his wife Charlotta are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Boisroux in Household No. 15.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The 1767 census records that Carl Ferdinand Stein came from the German village of Dresden in Saxony.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Stein family among the Volga German colonies.
