Martin Stempfner, a farmer, and his wife Margaretha are recorded on the 1767 census of Jost in Household No. 61. They had settled there on 19 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Martin Stempfner came from the German region of Reutlingen in Schwaben (Swabia).

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
