Stieber (Dietel)
Ludwig Stieber, a tailor, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a Russian packet-boat named Severnyi Orel (Northern Eagle) under the command of Lieutenant Pyotr Malenkov.
Ludwig died and his widow remarried to Andreas Urban. They settled in the Volga German colony of Dietel on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 37 along with son Ludwig Stieber (age 8).
Son Ludwig Stieber and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Dietel in Household No. Dt24.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that the Stieber family came from the German region of Darmstadt.
