Johann Peter Stielgenbaum [sic] was born in approximately 1791.
He served as a soldier in the 11th Cavalry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against and was captured by the Russians.
In 1812, he was settled in the Volga German colony of Schwab.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 he had two brothers and a sister still living in the German village of Sienhoppstädten.
Johann Peter Stiegelbauer is recorded there on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 98, on the 1850 census of Schwab in Household No. 109, and on the 1857 census of Schwab in Household No. 109 along with a note that he had died there in 1853.
Milovidov records that Johann Peter Stielgenbaum [sic] came from the German village of Sienhoppstädten (aka Hoppstädten bei Sien in the Pfalz region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Stiegelbauer family among the Volga German colonies.
