Johann Peter Stielgenbauer was born in approximately 1791. He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians. He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Schwab.

He is recorded there on the 1834 census of Schwab in Household No. 98, on the 1850 census of Schwab in Household No. 109, and on the 1857 census of Schwab in Household No. 109 along with a note that he had died there in 1853.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
