Strauss (Orlovskaya-1)*
Friedrich Strauss and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Friederich Strauss, his wife Albertina, and daughter Joh. Albertina (born en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 56.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Friedrich Strauss was a farmer from the German region of Dessau. The 1767 census records that he was a weaver (Tuchweber) from the German region of Liega.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Strauss family among the Volga German colonies.
