Nikolaus Tak, a farmer, his wife Anna Elisabeth, and daughter Maria (age 7) are recorded on the 1767 census of Volmer in Household No. 43. They had settled there on 18 July 1766.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Tak came from the German region of Zweibrücken.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Tak family among the Volga German colonies.
