Discussion & Documentation

In the parish register of Coswig is the following entry:

"den 17. August 1766 - Ist Herr Mauritius Thiele, Russischer Kaiserlicher Ober, Kommissarius über Koloniste mit seiner Verlobte Jungfrau Eleonora Dorothea Wandeck(in), aus Dessau in hiesiger Kirche eingesegnet und getraut worden."

[Translation: On 17 August 1766, Mauritius Thiele, Imperial Russian Superior and Commisioner of the colonists, married his financée, the virgin Eleanora Dorothea Wandeck from Dessau, in the local church.]

This couple has not been located on other Russian documents, so it is not known whether they actually made it to the Volga German colonies.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
