Johann[es] Tress, a farmer, his wife Helena, and children (Anna, age 17½; Johann [Philipp], age 16; Agness, age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 13 July 1767. Father Johannes died, and his widow Helena remarried to Lebrecht Kretzer. The combined Kretzer / Tress family is recorded on the 1767 census of Urbach in Household No. 17.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann[es] Tress came from the German region of Pfalz. The 1767 census records that his widow Helena came from the German village of Alzey in the Kurpfalz region.
