Discussion & Documentation

Lebrecht Vogel, a farmer, his wife Gertruda, and son Johann (age ¾) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a pinque named Slon (Elephant) under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

Lebrecht Vogel, craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Anna Margaretha (widow of Waldemar Andrian) are recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 51 along with stepsons (Philipp Karl Andrian, age 13; Johann Wilhelm Andrian, age 6½).

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Lebrecht Vogel came from the German region of Isenburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Vogel family among the Volga German colonies.
