Johann Volmer, a furniture maker (Tischler), and his wife Katharina are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 57 along with his stepdaughter Katharina [surname not recorded] (age 5). They had settled there on 5 September 1767.
The 1767 census records that Johann Volmer came from the German region of Hamburg.
