Discussion & Documentation

Gottfried Ostwald, a furrier, his wife Anna, and daughter Dorothea (age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Doro. von Brünn [née Ostwald] is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with her parents.

It is not known in which colony Doro. von Brünn settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Gottfried Ostwald came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male lines of this von Brünn family among the Volga German colonies.
