Discussion & Documentation

Johann Wagner, a farmer, his wife Johanna, and son Karl (age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Christoph Wagner, his wife Johanna, and son Joh. Christian [sic] are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Wagner came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male lines of this Wagner family among the Volga German colonies.
