Discussion & Documentation

Nikolaus Weidemann, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hans Karholm along with his mother and stepfather Philipp Jung.

Nicolaus Weidemann is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with his mother Catharina and stepfather Philipp Jung. A note on the transport list records that Catharina died en route.

Nikolaus Weidemann is recorded on an addendum of Beauregard recruits attached to the 1767 census in Household No. 78 along with his stepfather Philipp Jung and his stepfather's new family.

Philipp Jung and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Wittmann and it is assumed that Nikolaus Weidemann did as well.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this Weidemann family.
