Discussion & Documentation

Katharina Weil, a single woman, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard a ship named Der Ringende Jacob (The Wrestling Jacob) under the command of Skipper Johann Heitmann along with the Daniel Oldenburg family. The relationship between the Weil and Oldenburg families is not recorded.

Katharina Weil (age 20) is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony she settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Katharina Weil came from the German region of Nassau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Weil family among the Volga German colonies.
