Discussion & Documentation

Johann Felde [sic], a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and daughter Anna (age 3-weeks) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Frau Catharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Jenßen.

Johann Welde, his wife Anna Margaretha, and daughter Catharina (age ½) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony this Welde family settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Felde [sic] came from the German region of Darmstadt.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Welde family among the Volga German colonies.
