Gottlieb Wenig, a single farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Jost on 5 September 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 83 along with a note that he is working as a day laborer (Lohnarbeiter) for August Heine.
The widow and sons of Gottlieb Wenig are recorded on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo06.
The 1767 census records that Gottlieb Wenig came from the German village of Gräfenhain [Gräfenhainichen] in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
