Adam Heinrich Wernerhold (also Wennerhold and Wenderholdt on various records in Germany), son of Johannes & Juliana Wernerhold, was born 18 December 1746 in the German village of Oberaula. Father Johannes, son of Wendel & Anna Barbara Wernerhold, had been born in Oberaula on 16 November 1719. His brother Adam Heinrich, after whom the immigrant was named, was born in Oberaula on 18 February 1723.
Adam [Heinrich] Wernerhold, a single cobbler (Schuhmacher), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Adam Wernerhold is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
He is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 76 along with his new wife Katharina. They resettled to the Volga German colony of Basel and is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Bs26.
[Heinrich] Peter Wernerhold, son of Adam Wernerhold, is recorded on the 1811 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 14 along with a note that he had arrived in Nieder-Monjou from Basel in 1805, but that he returned to Basel.
The 1767 census records that Adam Heinrich Wernerhold came from the German village of Obernubel in the Hessen region.
