Discussion & Documentation

Heinrich Daniel & Susanna Catharina Maria Wolff had seven known children, four of them baptized in the Evangelical Church of Georgenhausen, located about 11 kilometers east-southeast of Darmstadt: (1) Johann Bernhard, born in 1748; (2) & (3) twins Johann Jacob & Maria Barbara, born in 1750; (4) Ludwig Wendel, baptized on 4 September 1753; (5) Johann Michael baptized on 21 September 1755; (6) Maria Elisabetha, baptized on 8 February 1758; and (7) Susanna Maria Benigna, baptized on 9 March 1760.

Heinrich Daniel Wolff and his family emigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein). They departed from Altona, Duchy of Holstein, on 7 June 1762 under the leadership of Christoph Paquet, and arrived in the city of Flensburg, Duchy of Schleswig, on 12 June 1762. The Wolffs remained in Denmark until 24 Apr 1765 when they immigrated to Russia. Sons Johann Bernhard & Johann Jacob next appear on the 1775 Census of the Volga German colony of Grimm in Households No. 44 & 86.

By the time of 1798 Grimm census, Johann Jacob is recorded in Household No. Gm019, and Johann Bernhard is listed in Household No. Gm077. Other descendants are registered in Households No. Gm025 and Gm029. In 1798 Sophia, a daughter of Johann Bernhard, moved to the colony of Moor and she is recorded there in Household No. Mo50 on the 1798 Census.

Johann Jakob Wolf, his brother Georg Philipp Wolf, and their families from Grimm are recorded on the 1857 census of Oberdorf in Household No. 59. Johannes Wolf from Grimm and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Oberdorf in Household No. 65.
