Kaspar Zern, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census along with his new wife Magdalena in Household No. 5.
The 1767 census records that Kaspar Zern came from the German village of Weske in the district of Württemburg.
