Discussion & Documentation

Tobias Zerwe, a joiner (Tischler), his wife Anna, and sons (Konrad, age 18¼; Jakob, age 16½) arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 25 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Новая Двинка (New Dvinka [a river in Russia]) under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.

Johann Tobias Zerwe, his wife Anna Katharina, his son Jakob Peter, and son's wife Ottilia are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 75.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Tobias Zerwe came from the German region of Nassau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Zerwe family among the Volga German colonies.
