Ludwig Heinrich Ziegler, a farmer, and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in the city of Schleswig on 20 May 1761. They are last recorded in Denmark on 1 May 1765 after which they joined the migration to Russia.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Galka on 12 April 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42.

Johann Michael Ziegler and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Galka in Household No. Gk06.

Johann Georg Ziegler, son of Johann Michael Ziegler, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Galka in Household No. 91.

Georg Michael Ziegler, son of Johann Michael Ziegler, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Galka in Household No. 100.

Heinrich Jakob Ziegler, son of Johann Michael Ziegler, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Galka in Household No. 132.

The 1767 census records that Ludwig Ziegler came from the German village of Bitterfeld in the German region of Wittenberg. A researcher named Albert reports on the forum of wolgadeutsche.net that this Ziegler family came originally from Bitzfeld, Baden-Württemberg.
