A number of Volga German families came from the German village of Wächtersbach. Most of them settled in the colony of Huck.
Church:
The western part of the nave constructed in the hall style date from the Gothic period of the 14th century. The tower was added in 1514. It probably also served as a defensive tower for the village.
The nave is covered by a barrel vault and has two-story balconies on three sides which were built in 1664 and 1702. The transept was also built in 1702 to make room for the patron's boxes of Albertina Maria, the wife of Count Ferdinand Maximilian I of Isenburg-Wächtersbach.
The organ current organ in the Evangelische Kirche in Wächtersbach constructed by Waldkircher Orgelbau Jäger & Brommer during a renovation of the building was dedicated in 2005. It has 24 registers, two manuals, and a pedal. The previous organ which had been built in 1954 was sold to the Lutheran Congregation in Sarepta in Russia [see separate entry for Sarepta].
