On 14 October 1750 Johann Heinrich Horst married Anna Elisabetha Wagner, daughter of Albrecht Wagner, in the Evangelische Kirche of Wächtersbach.

They had four children born in Wächtersbach: (1) Johann Heinrich, born 11 July 1751; (2) Johann Friedrich, born 21 September 1755; (3) Catharina Margaretha, born 27 November 1757; and (4) Johann Wilhelm, born 8 June 1760.

The Horst family immigrated to Russia, arriving from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

The four children appear as orphans in the colony of Huck in 1767: Wilhelm and Katharina in Household No. 74 and Johann Heinrich and Johann Friedrich in Household No. 29.

Johann Heinrich Horst (age 24) and Friedrich Horst (age 20) are recorded on the 1775 census of Norka in Household No. 31 identified as the stepsons of Nikolaus Vögler.

Heinrich is recorded on the 1798 census of Norka in Household No. Nr032 and Friedrich is recorded on the 1798 census of Schilling in Household No. Sh077.

Heinrich Horst is recorded on the 1811 census of Norka in Household No. 32 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Frank in 1801.

Heinrich Horst relocated in 1801 from Norka to Frank and is recorded on the 1811 census of Frank in Household No. 107.

Georg Horst is recorded on the 1811 census of Norka in Household No. 32 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Frank in 1810.

Georg Horst relocated in 1810 from Norka to Frank and is recorded on the 1811 census of Frank in Household No. 80.

Descendants of Johann Heinrich also moved to the colony of Kolb.
