Discussion & Documentation

Andreas Simon Hernthaller, a single locksmith (Schlosser), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 30 May 1766 aboard the pink Lopamink under the command of Lieutenant Kryukov.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Leitsinger on 12 May 1767 where he is recorded along with his new wife and newborn son in Household No. 25.

In 1787, Andreas Herrenstahler [sic] and his family moved from Graf to Schönchen.

Andreas Simon Herrenstahler [sic] from Graf is recorded on the 1798 census of Schönchen in Household No. Sn30 with a note that he was working as the schoolmaster in the colony of Zug.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Simon Hernthaller came from the German village of Kretz in the Pfalz region.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
