P(f)ister (Urbach-1)
There are two apparently unrelated P(f)ister families that settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach.
Georg Pister, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Börse von Lübeck under the command of Skipper Martin Friedrich Markau.
They settled in Urbach on 3 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27.
Georg Pister's widow and children are recorded on the 1798 census of Urbach in Household No. Ur17 along with a note that his 3 youngest sons had received permission to relocate to Perm.
The death of Gottlieb Pister, son of Georg Pister, in 1828 is recorded on the 1834 census of Urbach in Household No. 21.
Johann Peter Pister, son of Georg Pister, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Urbach in Household No. 34.
Christoph Pister, son of Georg Pister, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Urbach in Household No. 49.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that [Johann] Georg Pister came from the German region of Würzburg. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Kana in the region of Würzburg.
