Discussion & Documentation

Johann Adam Engraf, a farmer, his wife Anna, and son Johann (age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Grapp.

Johann Engraff and his wife Anna are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Rothammel on 21 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 21.

In 1788, Adam Engraf and his family moved from Rothammel to Volmer.

The 1767 census records that Johann Adam Engraf came from the German village of Mömlingen in the Kurmainz region.
