Christian Bast, a single cavalry soldier (Husar), settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 15 April 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Dreispitz in 1768.

The 1798 census of Dreispitz records that Christian Bast is working in Sarepta.

The 1767 census records that Christian Bast came from the German district of Elbing in the region of Prussia.
