Johann Adam Strack, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 22 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 67 along with Johannes Herrmann (age 10), orphaned son of Christian Herrmann. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Strack and Herrmann families, but it is believed that Christian and Elisabeth were siblings.
